5-9-21 – Weekly Update

Hello fellow Freedom Advocates!

It is not only Spring across the great state of Maine but here in the heart of MSU efforts as well. WE ARE GROWING! The excitement is palpable. Every meeting attended is full of more and more new people showing off their smiles, receiving and giving hugs and perhaps most importantly feeling seen and supported. Our hearts are touched every time we hear, “I thought I was the only one! I am so grateful to have found you guys!”.
You are NOT alone!

As we grow, our intent is for the slogan “The way life should be” to be true again.
We are wide open for suggestions that will enrich our lives and bring our community closer together. Get involved. Have your voice heard. Submit a suggestion for the calendar. Get involved in the leadership. Tell a friend about MSU! Print and share these flyers.
Also, we care about your business. If you Stand with MSU and offer a face friendly service, email info@mainestandsup.org and we will send our troops to support YOU.

Legislature Updates – Your action is needed!

If you have not submitted your written testimony for the vaccine bills heard last week in the Committee of Education and Cultural Affairs, you still have time to do so!  YOUR TESTIMONY IS VITAL IN TURNING OUR VACCINE LAWS AROUND!  These four vaccine bills, LD 96, LD156, LD 833 and LD 1082 are all in a work session this Wednesday, May 12th at 10:00.

If you have not submitted your testimony, please submit ASAP so the Clerk of the Committee can get the testimony in front of the committee members.

Last week, the Committee on the Judiciary rescheduled the hearings on two bills that were pointed out here as bills to follow:

  • LD 1292, An Act Regarding the Parental Right To Direct the Health Care of Children introduced by Sen. Lisa Keim of Oxford
  • LD 1510, An Act Concerning Informed Consent of Minors’ Authority to Release Health Care Information introduced by Sen. Lisa Keim.

Both hearings for these bills have been shifted to Thursday, May 13 at 9:00 in the Committee on Judiciary. Because the hearings have not yet occurred, testimony is open to both live, verbal testimony during the hearing itself and written testimony through the portal.

Follow this link for any bill you want to submit testimony:

  • Select “Public Hearing”
  • Select the Committee the bill is being heard
  • Select the date and time the bill is or has been heard.  Please note, if you are submitting written testimony for a bill that has already been heard, you must select the date the bill was heard, not today’s date.
  • Select the bill you want to submit testimony for from the list
  • Complete the information and submit testimony
  • Expect a confirmation email from the Clerk that your testimony has been received
